MUSIC SINGING, SONGWRITING & SELF-EXPRESSION for KIDS, TEENS & TODDLERS

 Community Rocks music classes enhance literacy, improve confidence, build self-esteem, motivate movement and empower teamwork. To date, we’ve recorded three full length albums entitled The Honeybabes, Please Stop Complaining and Let Yourself Shine!In the 2024-2025 Season we will begin recording a new kids cd of original music written by kids, with kids for kids. 

All Classes and All kids include Singing, Songwriting, Self-expression, Dance/Choreography, Instruments and Live Performance.  Kids create new songs. and  learn routines to fun cover songs AND write original lyrics.  

However, knowing that not creative kids want the spotlight we also teach the  “behind the scenes” of the music biz.  Kids Band (7&Up) participants learn sound engineering, stage managing, planning and promotion.  Putting it all to the test, the Community Rocks! Kids Band host various Kids Open Mic Nights throughout the year.  They set up, clean up, perform and run the show!

KIDS BAND:  Sara O’Brien & the Community Rocks! Kids create inspirational and educational music written by kids, with kids and for kids ages 3-16 to inspire confidence, enhance literacy, motivate movement and celebrate self-expression. Sara inspires kids to work together to build community and strengthen self through music, art and exercise. From stories, school lessons and life experiences, kids write lyrics and together we make songs to entertain, empower, inspire… and laugh! The song entitled “Being Weird is Cool” was released on the HoneyBabes album in 2005. The message went viral and today the logo is a proud symbol celebrating self-expression and uniqueness.The song “Little Ladies, Little Men” inspired by Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” inspire kids to sing out “DON’T BE MEAN” and is a daily reminder of kindness.The song WE ROCK says “we work together, WE ROCK” is sang daily at Community Rocks inspiring kids to work together .Whether funny, fabulous or motivational, every song has a message

ACTIVE ARTS: Circus in the City

RECYCLED ART! Community Rocks! uses reused, recycled and environmentally-friendly supplies & found objects to create new and fabulous art. Kids learn how to reduce waste, be creative with limited resources, respect the earth and use imagination to transform trash to treasure. For ideas and inspiration, check out our photo album (RRR Arts & Crafts photo album) Supplies and donations are always accepted & appreciated.Lyrics from the Reduce! With reused, donated and eco-friendly supplies, we create art!  Recycled Art teaches kids to reduce waste, be creative with limited resources and  use their imaginations to transform trash to treasure.

GIMME 5 to SHINE Creative * Active * Kind * Read-Write-Learn * Try. Together, these words create an acronym T.R.A.C.K. We do Gimme5 to Shine to stay on TRACK!with Confidence, Kindness, Literacy, Learning and Creative-Active Awesomeness by doing five things every day that earns you lots of high fives and confidence to shine!  Today and every day, do something Creative, ACTIVE, kind, READ-WRITE-Learn TRY!  and GIMME 5 every time! GIMME 5 to Shine is a year GIMME 5 to SHINE is our year round curriculum an d daily guideis a program that empowers kids, teens, families and folks to stay active, healthy, creative and kind.  It encourages reading, writing and trying new things that help us become confident people on this planet.  Inspired by kids and families its our curriculum & daily guide that encourages us to be Creative, Active, Kind, Read-Write-Learn and Try our best (try something new) five days a week.  Inspired by kids & families GIMME5 to Shine is a daily guide to help us stay on TRACK ironically....  five things every day to earn lots of HIGH 5s to shine bright! 🖐🏿🖐 🖐🏿🖐🏾🖐🏻

LITERACY THROUGH MUSIC (Stories, books & songs) and daily challenges/curiousities that build confidence, strengthen community and create healthy habits in kids & families.

  It is an interactive, energizing and FUN curriculum providing resources and materials to inspire goals, assess progress and measure success.  Students receive lots of high 5s while working toward goals and earning stars toward prizes and awards.

 In person, online or on your own time,GIMME 5! s provides daily curriculum Through social media, online zoom.com classes, calls, texts and video chats we are guiding and inspiring families to GIMME 5 delivering arts exercise supplies to families in Camden, Collingswood, Oaklyn, Audubon, and Gloucester City, NJ.  

FITNESS ROCKS!: Cardio, strength, stretch, core and yoga workouts followed by relaxation sessions for kids, teens and families.  These classes feature original local music as well as pop, rock, hip-hop and world music to inspire participants to exercise, sing and dance.

KIDS YOGA: In addition to learning tradition poses; kids fly like birds, soar like superheroes, become dragons and dinosaurs, rise with the sun, fall with the rain and make rainbows.  Mondays we climb mountains, Tuesday we grow trees, Wednesdays we wander the world, Thursdays we thirst for adventures and Fridays the forest awaits! 

• RHYTHMS, RHYMES & EXERCISE: Music & Fitness Workshops

Live Healthy!Yoga, exercise, fitness, health and wellness for kids, families and adults of all ages and fitness levels. FITNESS ROCKS!, a program that combines music and exercise, giving kids positive and healthy outlets (for depression, anger, anxiety and impulsivity) while providing tools for focus, relaxation and overall health & wellness. Originally designed for children with behavioral and mental health issues (especially ADHD and ODD-Oppositional Defiant Disorder), FITNESS ROCKS! accessible and beneficial to all ages and exercise levels. 

school asSEMBLIES & workshops Pro-confidence, Anti-bullying, Creative and Active assemblies and workshops entitled BEING WEIRD IS COOL, Let Yourself Shine! READ, WRITE, ROCK (in partnership with local libraries) and Rhythms, Rhymes & Exercise

-GIVE BACK Service Projects including assembling and distributing Homeless Care Bags and delivering supplies to our neighbors in need

UKULELE CLUB & MUSIC LESSONS Individual and small group guitar, ukulele, piano, keyboard and drum lessons in partnership with Collingswood Music

COMMUNITY ROCKS THE BLOCKS! Bringing our music and mission to New Jersey neighborhoods through festivals, events and block parties.  Community Rocks! brings tents, tables, live music, Kids Open Mic, Recycled Art, games and interactive activities.  Annual outdoor events include:  HT Block Party; Valenzano WineFest; Collingswood Book Festival; Beers, Bands & Backpacks;  BEATLES & STONES; and more…

NEIGHBORS ROCK! Helping our Neighbors in Need 

Community Rocks! partners with schools, churches, businesses and organizations to provide outreach and supplies to our neighbors in need.  People helping people, Communities helping communities.

TEEN TALKS:  Teens talk, we listen and provide teen-led programs and activities as well as mentoring and entrepreneur opportunities.  

SCHOLARSHIPS: No child is ever turned away for an inability to pay. Community Rocks! provides scholarships to any child who wants to learn but is unable to afford classes and lessons.

VOLUNTEERS ROCK!: We Work together, WE ROCK!” to make a difference in our communities through weekly and monthly service projects and initiatives for kids, teens and families.

KIDS CARE BAGS: Comfy, cozy, creative items, fun, artsy & educational activities, healthy snacks and personal care items

PENNIES with PURPOSE: Kids collect pennies to donate to local charities and global initiatives)

KIDS ROCK! SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Community Rocks! provides full and partial scholarships to any child who wants to learn but is unable to afford classes and lessons. Scholarships are provided for small group lessons, the Kids Band class and individual music lessons (in partnership with Collingswood Music), DANCE.. OVATIONS

TRANSPORTATION FUND: Providing children and families transportation to classes, lessons and events

HOMELESS CARE BAGS: assembled as part of our annual MLK Day of Service & Kids Camp.  Bags include socks, water bottle, crackers, soft granola bars, mints, chapstick
